A courtroom dispute over the control of Daddy Yankee’s record labels, El Cartel Records and Los Cangris, Inc., has come to a quiet resolution. Judge Anthony Cuevas dismissed the artist’s request to depose his estranged wife, Mireddys González Castellanos, and her sister, Ayeicha González Castellanos, after ruling that they had already provided the necessary information for a smooth corporate transition.

Why Did the Judge Side with Daddy Yankee’s Estranged Wife

The judge’s decision affirms that the legal documents submitted by the González sisters fulfill their obligation to clarify the financial and administrative status of the companies. “The sworn managerial letter includes all known information about pending matters and other details regarding the corporations under his presidency,” the ruling states. With this, Daddy Yankee, whose legal name is Ramón Ayala Rodríguez, now holds complete control over both entities.

The dispute emerged in December 2024, when the reggaeton star discovered a $100 million financial transaction executed by Mireddys and Ayeicha without his approval. The revelation triggered a legal fight over company leadership, coinciding with Daddy Yankee’s ongoing divorce from Mireddys after nearly 30 years of marriage.

Judge Cuevas emphasized that the deposition was not a requirement under the initial settlement but had been considered as a contingency if the managerial letter lacked sufficient clarity. Since the court found the document comprehensive, further questioning was deemed unnecessary. “The defendants have stated under oath their willingness to inform and clarify any doubts during the transition,” the judge wrote as reported by Listin Diario.

By rejecting the deposition request, the court signaled confidence in the González sisters’ cooperation and sought to prevent unnecessary delays in the record labels’ operations. “The primary objective has been ensuring that the corporate entities continue operating smoothly during this transition,” the ruling states.
