In Mazatlán, Sinaloa, 255 musicians came together to set the Guinness World Record for the Largest Folk Music Band in the World. The event unfolded in the Valentino area, where a vibrant group of musicians and invited artists performed in front of local officials.

How Did Mazatlán Break This Guinness World Record?

The air was thick with the rhythmic beat of Sinaloa’s tambora, reverberating through the heart of the city. This unique achievement was officially recognized by Alfredo Arista, the Guinness World Records adjudicator, who certified the record-breaking performance.

Arista explained the core mission of Guinness World Records: “I would like to tell you a little bit about the mission of Guinness World Records, which is to inspire the world to be a better place, full of harmony, full of happiness, and today was a clear example of what that mission is about and those values we hold in Guinness World Records.”

Mazatlán’s mayor, Estrella Palacios Domínguez, shared her excitement for the accomplishment. “Congratulations, we are all so excited! A huge thank you to all the musicians who made this possible. The tambora of Sinaloa was heard, it resounded in the heart of Mazatlán, and we can now hold this Guinness record. As the representatives here say, we try to make the world a better place, and we do that through our culture, our traditions, and of course, our Sinaloan music. Long live Mazatlán!” she wrote in Spanish.

The monumental band was directed by Germán Lizárraga, who guided the musicians through the performance. This event, organized by the Mexican Entertainment Association, not only shattered the record but also celebrated the region’s deep cultural roots.

An Achievement for Sinaloa and All of Mexico

This was a demonstration of how music can unite a community, carrying with it the spirit of tradition and identity. If you hear closely, the tambora’s beat continues to echo – at least it does in our hearts.
