At 51, Emmy nominee Sofia Vergara continues to shine in Hollywood. During a Netflix FYSEE event on June 2, she opened up about her role in the crime drama “Griselda,” where she plays the notorious drug lord Griselda Blanco. The US Sun reports that Vergara shared her experiences and thoughts on filming intimate scenes and dealing with aging.

Vergara revealed that filming sex scenes for “Griselda” was a first for her. “I don’t think I’ve ever done like, a sex scene,” she explained, highlighting that her role in “Modern Family” with co-star Ed O’Neill never required such scenes. Reflecting on her apprehensions, she admitted, “I’m 50! I mean, when I was 30, I wouldn’t have worried. I think I was worried that I was going to look horrific.”

Her concerns about her appearance were evident. “I was like, ‘Where are they shooting me? The cellulite? From the side,’” she confessed. “Uh, I’m vain I guess. That one kept me awake I think.” Despite her worries, she felt the scenes “came out good,” praising director Andy Baiz for his artistic approach and making her feel at ease.

Sofia Vergara Has the Perfect Body – And ALL Other Women Too

Cellulite, which Vergara worried about, is perfectly normal. It forms when fat deposits push through the connective tissue beneath the skin, creating a dimpled appearance. Factors like genetics, hormonal changes, and lifestyle can influence its development, making it a common feature for many women.

Vergara’s openness about her insecurities highlights the unrealistic beauty standards many Latinas and women in general face. These pressures can shape how women perceive aging and their bodies, often leading to feelings of inadequacy. Whether a woman chooses to age naturally or opt for cosmetic procedures, it’s important that she feels empowered in her decision.

In an exclusive with PEOPLE, Vergara shared her concerns about aging. “I’m going to fight it every step of the way,” she admitted. “I know I don’t look the same. But I don’t think I am going to ever be the woman that has the courage to be, like, all-white hair.”

Same, Sofia, same. I, too, refuse to age – and I’m fine with fighting it until the end. If anyone ever sees me with gray hair, please call 911. (Signed another cosmetic-procedure-loving Colombian.)

Ultimately, Sofia Vergara’s candidness about her journey with aging and body image opens an important conversation about self-acceptance and the pressures faced by women in the entertainment industry. Yet, her approach to aging, whether through natural means or cosmetic enhancements, underscores the validity of personal choice in maintaining one’s confidence and well-being.
