The National Puerto Rican Day Parade announced its 2022 National Scholarship Program and will be accepting applications through March 26. For the sixth consecutive year, the NPRDP will award 100 scholarships valued at $2,000 each to exceptional students of Puerto Rican descent who are making a difference in their communities.
The National Puerto Rican Puerto Rican Day Parade (NPRDP) is held annually along Fifth Avenue in Manhattan on the second Sunday in June to honor the nearly 4 million people of Puerto Rican descent and the more than 4 million people of Puerto Rican birth or heritage residing in the United States.
In 1995, the National Puerto Rican Day Parade, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization, was formed from its predecessor, the New York Puerto Rican Day Parade, when Dr. Ramon S. Velez and the parade board envisioned a national concept to demonstrate the cultural pride of our community.
Today, the NPRDP’s new organizational structure has expanded its scale of action beyond the parade itself, including promoting cultural awareness and education through its scholarship program.
