Miss Universe had many people locked in an emotional ride over the weekend.

Miss USA was announced as the Miss Universe winner and El Salvador’s president, Nayib Bukele, also made an announcement during the prestigious pageant.

The pageant kept everyone on their toes

Latin American and Caribbean countries kept climbing to the top, but so did the United States. However, round after round, the massive support of Miss Dominican Republic, Miss Puerto Rico, and Miss Colombia was undeniable. Public figures such as Cardi B weighed in throughout the entire event.

They were among the public’s favorites, which is why so many were confused when Miss USA was announced as the winner. Still, it is not to say that Miss USA, who was represented by R’Bonney Gabriel, didn’t deserve her win. After all, her speech was phenomenal.

When asked what she would do if she won Miss Universe, she said the following:

“I would use it to be a transformational leader. As a very passionate designer who has been sewing for 13 years, I use fashion as a force for good. In my industry, I am cutting down on pollution through recycled materials when I make my clothing. I teach sewing classes to women that have survived human trafficking and domestic violence,” Miss USA said.

“I say that because it is so important to invest in others, invest in our community, and use your unique talent to make a difference. We all have something special and when we plant those seeds in other people in our lives, we transform them and use them as a vehicle for change,” she concluded.

Miss Universe is back in the Americas

The night was filled with excitement, from start to finish. In fact, prior to the winner being announced, the audience and viewers from all over the world were informed that the following Miss Universe pageant will be heading to Latin America.

In a special announcement, President Bukele appeared on screen inviting everyone to the Land of Volcanoes.

“El Salvador is a country that is full of beauty,” said Bukele in the recorded video presented during the pageant. “We have the best surfing beaches in the world, magnificent volcanoes, and exquisite coffee, and we have now become the safest country in Latin America.”

“I would like to thank the Miss Universe Organization for joining us in this historic process. El Salvador is changing and we want you to come and see it for yourselves.”

El Salvador is a country in Central America that shares borders with two other magnificent countries: Honduras and Guatemala.

This won’t be the first time El Salvador opens its doors to Miss Universe. In 1975, Miss Finland took the crown while being hosted by San Salvador, El Salvador.

This year’s pageant took place in Louisiana after being postponed last year to accommodate the FIFA World Cup’s schedule.
